this is true for most exchanges. but the exchange mesh itself, which is the subject of our discussion, is not in that asn. it is the side service net which is in the transit asn.
I know of at least one IXP which uses a portion of its PA space for the exchange itself (on a multiple-access broadcast network, ie. switched ethernet) -- it was advised to do so by RIPE. Strangely enough, it is some of the side services that are on non-global-transit address space. -- Paul Martin <pm@zetnet.net>
