Where possible we suggest to include tickets in an RFC822 header line of the messages concerned. The suggested format is: X-NCC-Ticket: NCC#0000
Where it is impossible to modify the RFC822 header, this line can also be included in the body of the message. If desired the ticket number can also be included in text near the top of the body of the message.
This is easy to do for MH (what we use), but other mailers may have problems with this (I know UCB mail has). Maybe it is better to prepend this in the Subject line, like this: Subject: Request for a class B becomes Subject: NCC#4711 Request for a class B Another advantage is that the ticket automatically gets copied without any effort, while with new headers, 'something' has to be done to copy them in, and as Murphy dictates, it will be forgotten every once a while.. Comments? Should the registry-ID be on the subject line too? Geert Jan
