Also mostly customers would like to have the microsoft server as "virtual web hostings" and therefore (unfortunately) an ip address per customer is needed.
it isn't. As of IIS4.0 name based virtual web servers are supported.
But it only works if you explicitely enter the same IP over and over again where the typical "eNTe admin" would not even think of not entering unique IPs for every web servers. It works. But you have to search for it. We found out as a customer wanted two /24s for vhosting. What fun it was telling him it will work with just one... oh well.
