David, .DO is the Dominican Republic (on the caribeean). I've been disappointed with the 58 figure... and im not sure if some of these 58 have real users... some less-developed countries resources are being run on europe or states. Can you detail a bit more how is this count being done? UN has 190 members, there is yet a long, long, long (...) path to go... The numbers come from the 6bone registry. They only mean that at some time somebody registered a ipv6-site object in the registry. David K. ---

This is probably about the only way to do some analysis, but still: 1) not every v6 ISP even bothers to add itself to 6bone registry 2) not every v6 ISP even bothers to add its sites to 6bone registry As in, 6bone != v6. -- Pekka Savola "Tell me of difficulties surmounted, Netcore Oy not those you stumble over and fall" Systems. What would be the effective Point of adding RIR-related Objects (Site, Persons et al) into the 6bone Registry?
From the Thread i can see one is Statistics, is there another?

http://www.cs-ipv6.lancs.ac.uk/ipv6/6Bone/Whois/ Check the last part of the page, we'll need to clean it first ;) Even then, whois.6bone.net is for 6bone address space (3ffe::/16) The RIR's take care of their address spaces ;) If one wants to do stats, join the arin, ripe, apnic and 6bone databases and get your stats from there. It is not really documented anywhere, but people are totally free to register their ipv6 sites in the 6bone database, even when they got their addresses from somewhere else. The only 6bone specific part in the registry are the actual 6bone ipv6 address allocations which are documented in the inet6num objects. People who use RIR ipv6 address space are indeed free to decide not to register in the 6bone database. However, many sites decide to do so because it makes it easier for other people on the ipv6 internet to contact them in case of a perceived problem and the ability to document how your network is setup which can make it easier to debug problems. Ofcourse, thus: - inet6nums should go into their relevant whois's (6bone,apnic,arin,ripe) - site object 'can' be added to the whois.6bone.net for documentation purposes Is this correct? Especially for tools like the lancs information and all the ASPath-tree's out there as this is very handy indeed and helps debugging problems a lot ;) Greets, Jeroen
