We had a look at several IP Address Allocation Management tools and found that several of them are already supporting IPv6 in a fairly good way. But as Michael already mentioned, you should also have the possibility to customize these tools to your tasks and your network. Pretty good tools are IMHO INS IPcontrol, Men & MIce, Efficient IP, Incognito and VitalQIP from Alcatel/Lucent. But this may be a subjective feeling. BR Olaf

has anyone experiences with commercial tools for ipv6 allocations ? (i mean in this case for a LIR that keeps its ipv6 number bookkeeping)
A lot of people do write their own tools but Men and Mice is one that is commercial and does support IPv6. It's not really a question of build or buy here, since any reasonably large network will have to do some tool development around IP addresses, but if you can buy a commercial package that has hooks, then you solve the standard issues quickly and still have the flexibility to integrate it into your howmegrown tools.
