Dear IPv6 WG mailing list members,
RIPE 92 will be held in Edinburgh, Scotland from 18 - 22 May 2026, as well as
online.
For any form of participation you can register at
https://https://ripe92.ripe.net/register/<https://https:/ripe92.ripe.net/register/>
Please keep in mind that the early bird rate is only available yet today..
The IPv6 Working Group session is scheduled for Thursday 21 May from 9:00
- 10:30 (UTC+1).
We are looking for presentations! In the last years only sessions for the
Plenary could be registered via the website and the WG presentations needed to
be sent via email to the WG chairs. This has changed for the next meeting and
we are now using Pretalx for all presentations! Please submit your
presentations here:
https://ripe92.ripe.net/present/call-for-presentations/
You will need a RIPE NCC Access account and enable two-factor authentication
in order to access the submission system. If you don't have a RIPE NCC Access
account yet, please create it here: https://access.ripe.net/registration
If you like to discuss your presentation with us first, please email
ipv6-wg-chair(a)ripe.net<mailto:ipv6-wg-chair@ripe.net>.
The deadlines mentioned on the CfP page above are for the Plenary. For the WG
session we also accept submissions after the deadlines, but for better
planning we prefer to have your submission as soon as possible.
On 18th of April we will start to decide about the agenda and see, if we
still have open slots. Once we have decided on the agenda, we'll contact the
presenters. We expect to have a draft of the presentations about two weeks
before the meeting and the final slides at least two days before our session.
On behalf of the IPv6 WG co-chairs,
Chris, Wolfgang and Ray

Dear colleagues,
We have launched a new IPv6 Advanced e-learning course in the RIPE NCC Academy.
Through this course, participants can learn how to design an IPv6 infrastructure in order to deploy IPv6 across various network types and architectures.
More specifically, participants will learn how to implement an IPv6 addressing plan, deploy IPv6 in backbone, enterprise, and data centre and cloud networks, identify which IPv6 transition mechanism to implement for various deployment scenarios, and troubleshoot and monitor IPv6 networks.
Participants can enrol in the course for free at:
https://academy.ripe.net/ipv6-advanced
We would greatly appreciate if you could share this link with anyone in your networks who would benefit from this course.
Regards,
Alvaro Vives

As a researcher, I have never come across a highly intensive and inclusive
book like "The Internet Ecosystem". The book englobes the whole Internet
Ecosystem with the correct information compared to misleading
information from blogs/wikipedia on the Internet. This book was reviewed by
Vint Cerf. I have just completed the reading, I will highly recommend it
and it is nice to have a copy to keep for reference.

*Subject:* Launch of The Internet Ecosystem Book
Dear Community,
I am thrilled to announce the launch of my book, *The Internet Ecosystem* —
a comprehensive exploration of the history, architecture, governance, and
future of the Internet.
This book distills decades of technological evolution — from ARPANET and
packet switching, to AI, Web3, quantum networks, and beyond — into a clear,
engaging narrative accessible to both technical and non-technical readers
*What the Book Covers*
- *The Past:* How Cold War research, ARPANET, and packet switching gave
birth to the Internet we know today.
- *The Present:* The intricate roles of ISPs, backbone providers, cloud
infrastructure, AI, cybersecurity, and global governance shaping our daily
online experiences.
- *The Future:* Insights into 5G/6G, blockchain, immersive technologies,
quantum security, and the Internet in 2050.
With *49 detailed chapters*, the book provides a definitive yet
approachable reference for students, professionals, policymakers, and
curious readers alike.
My mission with *The Internet Ecosystem* is to make the Internet’s
complexity understandable — showing not only *how* the Internet works, but
also *why* it matters and has become one of the most transformative human
inventions — while sparking dialogue on how we build a secure, inclusive,
and sustainable digital future.
In the 21st century, understanding the Internet is not optional — it’s
essential. Whether you’re a business leader, policymaker, educator,
student, or everyday Internet user, this book provides the context and
clarity you need to navigate the opportunities and challenges of our
connected world.
