The UK's National Cyber Security Centre and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has just published a code of conduct on security for consumer IoT devices. It's full of the usual advice: no default passwords, update firmware, protect personal data, etc. The document's available here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/secure-by-design/code-of-practice... In case anyone's wondering DCMS is the government department which (amongst other things) looks after Internet matters.
