<< As a new initiative that aims to raise awareness on the security implications of the Internet of Things (IoT), the conference will enable a multi-stakeholder discussion by bringing together experts from cybercrime units, CSIRTs, international organisations, private industry, regulatory agencies, and academia. Dear colleagues, I have talked to many of you personally about our upcoming meeting in Leeds and happy to see many of you also have registered. If you are thinking about coming over, but haven’t registered, please do so. We still have quite a few places left, but would like to get a sense of how much coffee we need to order. As mentioned in our announcement, the goal of this meeting is to discuss the possible interactions between RIPE and the Internet of Things industry. What are the concerns in our community, for instance with regards to poorly maintained devices and attacks such as the Mirai botnet. What can the RIPE NCC and RIPE do in this space, which actions or outputs could help to make the IoT environment more safe? We will post an updated agenda soon, several people have approached us with ideas and examples. But there is still space for more, so if you have any ideas or examples that can help to shape the debate, please do contact us. Dear Colleagues, Following the successful BoF sessions that took place at the last two RIPE Meetings, we would like to invite you to a one day meeting dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT) and its consequences for the RIPE community and our business. This will be a one-day meeting, taking place in Leeds, UK, on 21 September 2017. We will start at around 10:30 local time and end the day at around 17:30 with a small reception. Our aim at this meeting will be to discuss what impact the IoT might have on areas of interest to the RIPE community and RIPE NCC services, and how we together can contribute to this emerging industry in a positive manner. This meeting is open to all interested parties. This is what we came up with. Hi all, As promised, here's a summary of the brief discussion that took place during the closing plenary session at RIPE 74 about the potential creation of a new RIPE Working Group focused on IoT. Anna Wilson provided a brief explanation of the BoF that took place and Hans Petter Holen presented a slide on the draft “proto-charter" submitted by the team of volunteers. Hans Petter said that a slot will be made available during RIPE 75 to focus on this topic and to decide whether to form a Working Group.
