Discontinuing the EIX Working Group Mailing List

Dear colleagues, You are receiving this mail because you are subscribed to the EIX Working Group mailing list. As you may have seen, it was proposed at RIPE 67 that the EIX Working Group be discontinued. You can see the discussion around this that took place during the presentation made by Nick Hilliard: https://ripe67.ripe.net/programme/meeting-plan/eix-wg/ The proposal also requested that a Birds of a Feather (BoF) be set up for RIPE 68 that would allow the interconnection community to meet. The connect-bof mailing list was set up so that the former EIX Working Group might create a charter for a new group that might eventually replace the EIX Working Group. The EIX Working Group subscribers have been automatically added to the new connect-bof mailing list to allow a charter to be formed for the new group. The EIX Working Group mailing list archives will be available from the following location: http://www.ripe.net/ripe/mail/archives/eix-wg/ We hope that you will participate on the connect-bof mailing list. Stepping down as EIX WG-Chair

Hi, I've very much enjoyed being your working group co-chair for around five years now. That's quite a long time for you to have waited for a chance to think about the group chairship, so it feels like the right sort of time to step aside and ask the working group to select a new person to co-chair the group. Being the wg-chair is a lot of work since as well as putting together three hours of entertainment twice a year, there is an administrative role to play in the policy development process (test and confirm that the PDP has been followed for every new policy proposal), and a functional role to play in improving and building RIPE & the RIPE Meetings. Don't underestimate the amount of time needed to do this properly. That said, if you enjoy the RIPE meetings, and want to help improve collaboration in the RIPE community, this is a great way to contribute. ** Thanks to everyone that has spoken at or come along to the EIX meetings in the past few years. ** It's been a pleasure collaborating with you all at RIPE. Dear EIX working group, I'll break the silence of this wg-mailing-list to inform you that we updated the EIX wishlist :-] You can find the updated Version 4.0.2 of the EIX wishlist temporarly at my UniVie webspace at http://homepage.univie.ac.at/~hm/eix-wishlist-4.0.2.pdf We changed the structure a little bit by moving the topological features one layer up and added point 6.3.3 for optimisation (or rather elimination) of L2 broadcasts. Please have a look and give us three some feedback - either per mail or in Athens at RIPE67. If you would like to add, rearrange or drop some content please also get back to us. Colleagues, For people who talk about peering A meeting in Dublin is nearing Please send us a talk That won't make us balk To present, to community, cheering ! If you have a peering or interconnection topic to present in Dublin at RIPE 66, please submit at soonest convenience a proposal and draft slides (covering a talk that will last 15-25 mins). If you are an Internet Exchange operator with significant news or a new development to announce or explain, please also present a proposal and draft slides (again, the talk will last 15-25 minutes). If you are a new IXP, or an IXP who has not presented before at EIX-wg, please consider writing a 5 minute announcement and introduction to your exchange point.
