Dear all, The deadline for volunteers/nominations has passed and I am very pleased to announce that we received a single self-nomination: Moritz Müller applying for a second term as co-chair. We will now collect expressions of support (or opposition) from the mailing-list, until Monday 20 May 2024, and will announce the results on Wednesday 22 May 2024 during the DNS working group session at the RIPE 88. Find below Moritz' motivation to apply for a second term: ### I'd like to volunteer for a second term as RIPE DNS-WG co-chair. In my last term, I've helped organizing (hopefully) interesting and diverse working-group meetings and I'd like to continue doing this for another 3 years. Authoritative DNS service degradation 2024-04-15

Dear colleagues, Yesterday at 09:15 UTC an unscheduled software update was rolled out on several of our Hosted DNS instances. This update applied an incorrect routing daemon configuration. Due to the incorrect configuration, DNS requests received by these DNS instances could no longer be answered. This affected 8 of our 20 Authoritative DNS sites. At 14:03 UTC the cause of the incident was identified, and anycast BGP announcements for the affected instances were withdrawn, redirecting traffic to other locations. This was completed at 14:15 UTC. We re-applied the correct routing configurations on all affected servers, and restored BGP announcements at 09:00 UTC today. Furthermore, we have applied measures to prevent automatic updates of the routing daemon software on all of our DNS servers. Kind regards, Martin Pels RIPE NCC

DNS-WG at RIPE 88: Second call for presentations

Dear colleagues, RIPE 88, taking place in Krakow, is coming closer. The meeting will be held from 20 to 24 May. Our working group meeting is currently scheduled on the 22th, but note that this might still change. This e-mail is our second official call for topics for the RIPE DNS working group session. If you are interested in presenting, please send your proposals to dns-wg-chairs(a)ripe.net. Please also indicate how much time you would need for your presentation including Q&A. As usual, both in-person and remote participation in the working group is possible.
