Dear all,
I am responding to the invitation for volunteers for the taskforce, and also for contributions to the draft charter.
I would like to make some suggestions on the charter, but I see etherpad does not have change control markings.
Oh, that's a surprise to me - I expect that to be a standard feature.
So while I could add new sections easily enough, if I were to change or delete existing text, that would hide what others have written before me, which isn't my intention. I also fear it might not be well received by the original author of those words.
I know Google docs represents deletions/edits with a strikethrough on the original text, rather than suppressing it - but I also know that some people prefer not to use Google docs, and etherpad may have been chosen quite deliberately.
Indeed, it's a more "free & open" SW then g00gle...
So my first question is, how would you prefer to receive such contributions? Would you like me to start a new etherpad, for example?
Please don't - unless you find that the only option. You can either add your own version below, and mark it with your name; or send it to the mailing list, to be discussed here. Please do that before 10:30 tomorrow, so we can talk about it at the online meeting. Thanks, Vesna
