Hosting RIPE85 in Serbia that is trying to cancel EuroPride 2022

Hi, It appears that the Serbian president is currently attempting to cancel the EuroPride 2022 event that the Serbian PM earlier committed to fully support[1]. I feel like hosting RIPE meetings in countries that would try to cancel pride events, seemingly at least in part because of anti-LGBTQ+ protesters is not great if we want to increase diversity and inclusivity. Sure, it is a lot better than when it was decided to host one in the UAE a few years ago but that is a pretty low bar. To further increase diversity and inclusion, I think it would make sense to require that the RIPE meetings are only hosted in cities/countries that support LGBTQ+ rights. Goals for Diversity

Hello, Mirjam suggested that I share a post to the RIPE list with this group: Deliberate change requires setting goals, working towards them and checking progress. So what diversity goals should we set ourselves? In gender diversity the popular/simplistic goal has been to reflect world population: classical 50/50 or contemporary with more categories. Is this the right benchmark? Shouldn't we set goals based on the diversity of groups that are closer to our community? I have seen some organisations setting diversity goals based on current ratios: "We will double the percentage of female graduates in five years time." Others base their goals on similar groups: "We will have double the percentage of female graduates compared with the average of similar programs in Europe." Yet others use statistics of a larger population they serve: "We will have a higher percentage of female graduates than that of secondary school graduates four years earlier." I strongly believe we should set ourselves realistic goals. I also believe that diversity has other parameters than gender and that our efforts on gender diversity should not lead to a loss of other diversity we have already achieved. The task force has initiated many activities that have been implemented in the meantime, such as childcare at RIPE Meetings, the Women in Tech sessions, the mentoring programme and the new RIPE Code of Conduct. In agreement with the members of the task force, I proposed to close the task force. This proposal was approved by the RIPE 84 plenary and is now reflected on ripe.net: https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/tf/ripe-diversity-task-force This does not mean that our efforts to increase diversity and become more inclusive in the RIPE community are over. But after this topic was successfully kicked off by the task force, it has evolved into a larger community activity and is the responsibility of all of us. Dear colleagues, We are searching for two volunteers for the Community Projects Fund Selection Committee. We are especially interested in diverse candidates! https://www.ripe.net/publications/news/announcements/call-for-ripe-ncc-comm… The RIPE NCC Community Projects Fund provides EUR 250,000 a year for projects supporting the Internet resilience and operations. Hi Karla, One of the initial tasks of the Diversity Task Force was a review of the RIPE Code of Conduct. Once the Code of Conduct Task Force was formed, the Diversity TF took a step back but kept the mailing list active. With a new Code of Conduct in place and the remaining milestones of that TF in sight, we will now review the scope and charter of the RIPE Diversity TF. Having said that, I would like to clarify that a RIPE Task Force will not get directly involved in anything related to RIPE NCC leadership or hiring. Question about the Diversity Task Force

Folks, Does anyone know the status of the Diversity Task Force at RIPE? https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/tf/ripe-diversity-task-force I note that there is a web page; but no current activity. Besides Vesna's excellent postings. I note that the lack of diversity in the RIPE leadership and those who give keynotes and closing talks are exclusively male at SEE10. Interesting that it's the same guy giving both the keynote AND the closing address. I could do SO much better, personally. Women need to be allowed to speak... not only on behalf of support services but as leaders. It was "explained" to me by two members of the executive board (the lone woman on the executive board wasn't present at SEE10, sadly) that there is no diversity problem at RIPE; notwithstanding that the Leadership page is all-male: https://www.ripe.net/about-us/staff/structure If we don't have women at the leadership circle, we are not diverse. And I won't even get into the hiring practices.
