Dear RIPE community, Earlier today, the Code of Conduct TF published two documents for the community's review. We updated the document describing the Code of Conduct Team's operational procedures based on community input. We have also published a document describing a selection process for the Code of Conduct Team. Extra points (clicked too fast send) ... very important ones in my opinion, regarding the appointment of CoC Team members. 1) Don't see the need to ask for one person from the community, and it is fair easy to fake (again same point regarding enforcement). 2) I don't agree that the Chair is the one to appoint CoC members. It should be the community (and this will solve 1 above). 3) I even less agree on "own discretion", it is prone o subjectivity, "my friends", etc., we have seen this happening already many times, here and in the IETF. Is not right, and it is discriminatory. Again, 2, solves this. 4) I'm not convinced there is an objective way to judge "emotional intelligence", and even if there is, I feel this is discriminatory, the same as considering age and gender. Again, 2 above, will solve this. I think we should have some text on that. 2) I don't agree that the CoC Team, even being different persons, is the right way to take care of possible Appeals. 3) I don't think is right to "permanently" ban anyone. I will agree in only disallowing him to speak up. 6) Same a 3 above, I don't think anyone can be removed permanently from a mailing list. In fact, if he/she want to keep participating, it is plain easy to create an alternative email and rejoin, even if not posting. Similarly, can happen 5 above. Hosting RIPE85 in Serbia that is trying to cancel EuroPride 2022

Hi, It appears that the Serbian president is currently attempting to cancel the EuroPride 2022 event that the Serbian PM earlier committed to fully support[1]. I feel like hosting RIPE meetings in countries that would try to cancel pride events, seemingly at least in part because of anti-LGBTQ+ protesters is not great if we want to increase diversity and inclusivity. Sure, it is a lot better than when it was decided to host one in the UAE a few years ago but that is a pretty low bar. To further increase diversity and inclusion, I think it would make sense to require that the RIPE meetings are only hosted in cities/countries that support LGBTQ+ rights. Goals for Diversity

Hello, Mirjam suggested that I share a post to the RIPE list with this group: Deliberate change requires setting goals, working towards them and checking progress. So what diversity goals should we set ourselves? In gender diversity the popular/simplistic goal has been to reflect world population: classical 50/50 or contemporary with more categories. Is this the right benchmark? Shouldn't we set goals based on the diversity of groups that are closer to our community? I have seen some organisations setting diversity goals based on current ratios: "We will double the percentage of female graduates in five years time." Others base their goals on similar groups: "We will have double the percentage of female graduates compared with the average of similar programs in Europe." Yet others use statistics of a larger population they serve: "We will have a higher percentage of female graduates than that of secondary school graduates four years earlier." I strongly believe we should set ourselves realistic goals. I also believe that diversity has other parameters than gender and that our efforts on gender diversity should not lead to a loss of other diversity we have already achieved. The task force has initiated many activities that have been implemented in the meantime, such as childcare at RIPE Meetings, the Women in Tech sessions, the mentoring programme and the new RIPE Code of Conduct. In agreement with the members of the task force, I proposed to close the task force. This proposal was approved by the RIPE 84 plenary and is now reflected on ripe.net: https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/tf/ripe-diversity-task-force This does not mean that our efforts to increase diversity and become more inclusive in the RIPE community are over. But after this topic was successfully kicked off by the task force, it has evolved into a larger community activity and is the responsibility of all of us.
