Dear folks, Recently I found that RIPE DBM doesn't send me notification about changes of guarded objects (e.g. AS1955). Specially I send updates from the address to notify. The version 2 software is so smart, that knows that no use to notify the sender itself, or this is some bug? Regards Gabor Kiss

Yes, the new software is so smart. Many people complained about the amount of notifications they got. This one could easily be skipped since the sender already got the normal ACK message. This feature can easily be reverted too the old very, very verbose behavior if is felt that the software grew up to become too smart, David K. ---
In my opinion notifications should *not* be sent to the originator of the change request. We had too many complaints about too many notifications. Those wishing to receive notifications of their own changes can easily achieve that by putting an alias mailbox into their notification attributes. Note also that this smartness quite consciously introduces less 'security' because it allows someone to make clandestine changes by forging his From:-address to avoid notification. We did this because those with really high security requirements shoud use maintainers with a stronger authentication menthod. Daniel
