Replicated global whois DB
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but is there available software available to download the complete whois DBs of ARIN/RIPE/APNIC/LACNIC/AFRINIC and have it available offline for whois lookups? Thanks, Hank

Except for 'person' records, you can download them at: RIPE: ftp://ftp.ripe.net/ripe/dbase/ ftp://ftp.ripe.net/${rir}/dbase/ APNIC: ftp://ftp.apnic.net/apnic/whois-data/APNIC/ ftp://ftp.apnic.net/apnic/whois-data/${rir}/ and ARIN/LACNIC/AFRINIC have similar dirs on their FTP server. eg: ftp://ftp.ripe.net/ripe/dbase/split/ripe.db.aut-num.gz Contains all ASN's. But you can also download them all in one chunk, depending on what you need. Greets, Jeroen

RIPE: ftp://ftp.ripe.net/ripe/dbase/ ftp://ftp.ripe.net/${rir}/dbase/
APNIC: ftp://ftp.apnic.net/apnic/whois-data/APNIC/ ftp://ftp.apnic.net/apnic/whois-data/${rir}/
and ARIN/LACNIC/AFRINIC have similar dirs on their FTP server.
I can't find them - only the apnic + ripe files. -Hank

That is as LACNIC/AFRINIC/ARIN only publish stats files and not their whois. Really, you have to be happy with that as the ARIN whois is messy compared to RIPE whois. (IMHO :) Greets, Jeroen

Thats what I was afraid of. Tis a shame not all RIRs can follow the standard practices of RIPE and APNIC. -Hank
