Hi, Nigel,
About {AP-41.8 C&W]
[AP-41.2 C&W] To send their proposal to allow referencing external objects in the DB to the mailing list for discussion. Ongoing, no action yet
We made a proposal to allow "import: from SRC::ASN:AS-SET" for using data from other source of registry data. I haven't seen any formal response from RIPE NCC yet. This shouldn't affect the database referential integrity but will make RR closer to a distributed structure. Maybe the status is now "Complete, pending response from RIPE NCC" ? Agreed ?
I probably miss some of your e-mails but I haven't seen a proposal regarding this issue. Are you referring to the discussion on irrtoolset mailing list where you mentioned that such feature may be desirable?
I certainly haven't seen it either, and no one at the last DB WG meeting recalled seeing a proposal from C&W, which is why the minute is as it is. My proposal is to leave the final minute, (there has been more than adequate time between the publishing of the draft minute and the final one, for review) and for Lu Ping to raise the issue either formally on this mailing list, or at the next DB WG meeting.
I think in order to start a discussion we need to elaborate on this. Especially regarding the scope (I am in favour to limit is to import/export only) and functionality (how/where expansion is done, etc.). If you would like we can prepare such proposal.
That sounds like a good idea, perhaps you could do this and present at the next WG?
From the database changes will be minimal, most of the work will happen in the IRRToolset.
Thanks,
