x. CLNS Routing Registry (10') A . status review and decision about further activities
I tried to collect some information about this agenda point over the wg-llt-clns RARE list, but without any feedback. The proposal about CLNS registry objects from Sue Hares & Henk Steenman hasn't been updated since last RIPE meeting and I do not expect any changes in the near future. But, at least spoken for SWITCH, we would like to see a possiblity to store routing and authority information not only for IPv4 but also for other network protocols. In January I suggested already on the db-wg list something like a network protocol address prefix. I don't see a need anymore for a special CLNS proposal but I see a need for a more general view of network entries in the RIPE database. For sure we will need an enhancement to support IP6. All the features implemented in the new whois server related to CIDR simplifies the usage for any routing objects based on a longest prefix match ..., and yes, CLNS falls in this area as well. I will not join next RIPE meeting but I will stay on the dg-wg list.
