Dear der Mouse I can understand your frustration at the apparent lack of response from the RIPE NCC in ensuring address space contacts in the Whois Database are accurate. The RIPE community decided that only the maintainers of objects in the database may make changes to data. The RIPE NCCs role is to implement this decision for the RIPE community. The RIPE Whois Database is a public database and therefore, although we (the RIPE NCC) aid in its operation, we are not responsible for its content. The RIPE community develops and sets policies through an open, bottom-up process of discussion and consensus-based decision making. If you wish to see changes to the policies that the RIPE NCC implement, the RIPE community has published the following process: http://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/pdp.html We are happy to assist you in drafting any policy proposal you would like to present to the community. The policy proposal template can be found here: http://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/pdp.html#appendix_b If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Yours sincerely, Dominic Spratley, Registration Services Manager RIPE NCC
