Hi all, currently I'm integrating automatic assignment of subnets into an application, and face an issue while testing it. The idea was to use the RIPE test database while developing the application. However the test database doesn't have the same allocations as the real database, so the subnets I am trying to assign are directly below the net 0.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.255. Which of course has a different maintainer, and I can't use PGP authentication for that maintainer either. I've tried to simply create the allocations in the test database, but it failed with the message "ALLOCATED inetnum objects require the administrative maintainer." What's the best way to do deal with that problem? Cheers, Moritz

Dear Moritz, To create an ALLOCATION in the TEST Database, the allocation object must contain this: mnt-by: TEST-NCC-HM-MNT This maintainer exists in the TEST Database with the password "emptypassword" without the quotes. Thanks, that works and solves my problem. Is there any documentation where I could have found that information? Cheers, Moritz

Dear Moritz This is something not many people do in the TEST Database. So all our documentation only explains how to create assignments. But after the RIPE Meeting we will discuss this with our training team and see what the best way forward is. Perhaps we could create some standard allocation objects already in the TEST Database and then explain how to make use of them. Oops. I was thinking of the TEST-DBM-MNT mntner. Apologies throughout, and thanks to Denis for the correct answer. Another day, another new thing learned... -- Thor Kottelin http://www.anta.net/
