Yes, it is essential. The 'rev-srv:' attribute in inetnums can only be used a reference-- they do not have any effect on operations. Please have a look into http://www.ripe.net/ripencc/mem-services/registration/reverse/index.html for the procedure to set up reverse delegation.

You can keep anything in 'rev-srv:' attributes of the inetnums, but that will not have any operational effect, and might cause confusion if your reverse domain object and your inetnum get out of sync. So it might be an idea to delete any 'rev-srv:' attributes from your inetnum, just to prevent future confusion.
