It seems to me that they aren't so much asking for an end to net neutrality, as for some mechanism to make platforms such as Google and Facebook pay for the traffic that they put on the network. At present, we, users, pay directly for the infrastructure that carries the traffic if it is provided by telcos, and indirectly (through the monetization of our personal data) if it is provided by a CDN funded by a platform. We pay for the services provided by the platforms through monetization of pour personal data. However, the services we receive cost much less than the value of the data we provide, which is why Google and Facebook have huge profits. Maybe it makes sense for some of those profits to be redistributed to cover the costs of the infrastructure that we are increasingly relying on. Best, Richard
