It aims to set a new framework for how digital technologies are ‘used responsibly and for the benefit of all, outlining shared principles of an open, free and secure digital future’. IS3C consultation on an alternative narrative to deploy Internet standards

Dear colleagues, IGF DC IS3C invites you to participate in the consultation on positively enhancing the deployment of two Internet standards: DNSSEC and RPKI. You are invited to answer either of these questions: Do the arguments used to favor a positive decision, convince you to order deployment within your organisation or from your service provider? / Do they assist you to convince decision takers in your organisation to invest in security by design? You are invited to share your views and arguments with IS3C’s expert team and have been granted commenting rights in this document to do so. The consultation runs from 11 March to 12PM UTC, Friday 5 April 2024. Your contribution will be taken into consideration when finalising the text before publication this spring. Dear Colleagues, Last week, the European Commission published a White Paper on “How to master Europe’s digital infrastructure needs?”: https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/library/white-paper-how-master-eur… A public consultation is open and running until 30 June 2024: https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/better-regulation/have-your-say/initiatives/1… The White Paper highlights some challenges and opportunities for the rollout of future connectivity networks and presents possible scenarios. Main takeaways and key objectives the European Commission is pushing forward through this initiative include: Making the telecom sector more attractive for investors and address “investments needs” for the deployment of future networks; Improving harmonisation of spectrum authorisation procedures and reduce administrative burdens across EU member states; Suggesting a revision of the European Electronic Communications Code (EESC) while seeking ways to reduce market fragmentation; Enhancing the resilience and security of telecom networks in Europe, notably through a “de-risking approach” to subsea cables. In addition, the Commission plans to release a recommendation regarding subsea cables soon. These initiatives set the scene for conversations on the future of telecom networks in the context of upcoming EU elections and will influence the agenda-setting process for the next mandate. Dear members As a longstanding member of CENTR myself and on behalf of CENTR, I would like to invite you to participate in the Call for Proposals for the Jamboree 2024, a 3-day conference organised by and for European ccTLD community, taking place in Copenhagen on 29 - 31 May 2024. The CENTR Jamboree is a gathering of all CENTR’s Working Groups, from Legal to Technical, from Security to Marketing, R&D and Admin, and is open for external participation. CENTR opened a call for proposals for sessions led by both members and non-members of the CENTR community. Whether you are new to the DNS ecosystem or a long-term part of it, this is your chance to set the stage of CENTR annual Jamboree. CENTR invites you to submit your proposals for a session covering a topic relevant for ccTLDs and the wider DNS ecosystem. You can choose any angle, picking from the range of work of CENTR’s Working Groups, from legal and regulatory to technical topics, security or marketing related, R&D. CRA update

Colleagues, We wanted to share a brief update on the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Yesterday, the European Parliament's Industry Committee formally endorsed the final text of the CRA following the political agreement reached in the Council in December 2023. The final vote will take place in plenary session on 11 March. Here is the latest version of the text: https://data.consilium.europa.eu/doc/document/ST-17000-2023-INIT/en/pdf We’ll continue monitoring this space, as the focus will be moving to the implementation phase, including discussions on secondary legislation meant to specify some key provisions of the CRA and the development of (voluntary) standards to support implementation and compliance.
