NL consultation on IPv6 consultation

Colleagues, Just flagging for those interested that the Dutch Standardisation Forum is having a consultation on IPv6. Here is the link to the consultation and relevant documents (in Dutch): https://internetconsultatie.nl/ipv6/b1 To note, comments in English are also welcomed, and the deadline is on 4 October 2024. In a nutshell, the Standardisation Forum, which is an initiative supported by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of Interior -- advising on the use of ICT standards and maintaining a list of ICT standards that are either mandatory or recommended for the public sector -- is currently assessing the scope of application of the 'apply or explain' list covering IPv6 and whether additional clarification is needed. In this context, a document gathering recommendations from an expert group has been published and is available on the webpage of the consultation. The current scope is: *IPv6 and IPv4 should be applied in combination (‘dual stack’) to communication between applications in (a) network(s).* The expert group recommends changing the scope of application as follows: “*IPv6 should be applied to digital services, such as websites and e-mail servers. In addition, end-user devices should be able to reach websites, applications and other digital services on the Internet via IPv6. If necessary, it is permitted to additionally apply IPv4 (dual stack).*” It also recommends changing the name (caption) on the list from “IPv6 and IPv4” to “IPv6”. EU set up a CRA Expert Group + consultations on EU Cybersecurity Act

Dear all, Just to flag that the European Commission has launched a call for applications to join a newly established Expert Group on the cybersecurity of products with digital elements (CRA Expert Group) -- the group will assist and advise the Commission on issues relevant to the implementation of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) -- deadline to apply is on 17 October 2024: https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/news/call-applications-cyber-resil… In addition, the European Commission has opened two consultations relating to the implementation of the EU Cybersecurity Act adopted in June 2019, which introduces an EU-wide cybersecurity certification framework for ICT products, services and processes. Global Digital Compact update

Dear members and colleagues The Global Digital Compact (GDC) was agreed upon as Annex I of The Pact for the Future document, yesterday afternoon (CET time) at the UN General Assembly. The full document can be accessed here: https://www.un.org/sites/un2.un.org/files/sotf-pact_for_the_future_adopted.… <https://www.un.org/sites/un2.un.org/files/sotf-pact_for_the_future_adopted.…> The following GDC paragraphs (26-29) that relate to the nature of Internet governance, were agreed by Member States after several document revisions: Internet Governance 26. We recognize that the Internet is a critical global facility for inclusive and equitable digital transformation. To fully benefit all, it must be open, global, interoperable, stable and secure. 27. We recognize that Internet governance must continue to be global and multistakeholder in nature, with the full involvement of governments, the private sector, civil society, international organizations, technical and academic communities, and all other relevant stakeholders in accordance with their respective roles and responsibilities. We reaffirm that Internet governance should continue to follow the provisions set forth in the outcomes of the summits held in Geneva and Tunis, including in relation to enhanced cooperation. 28. We acknowledge the importance of the Internet Governance Forum as the primary multistakeholder platform for discussion of Internet governance issues. 29. We commit to: (a) Promote an open, global, interoperable and reliable Internet and take concrete steps to maintain a safe, secure and enabling online environment for all (SDG 9); (b) Support the Internet Governance Forum, including through continued efforts to increase diverse participation from governments and other stakeholders from developing countries and the provision of voluntary funding also to this end (SDG 9 &10); (c) Promote international cooperation among all stakeholders to prevent, identify and address risks of fragmentation of the Internet in a timely manner (SDG 16); (d) Refrain from Internet shutdowns and measures that target Internet access (SDG 16). Qualitative Study: “Routing Realities: Assessing the practicality of academic BGP security solutions in network operations”

Hello! My name is Aleeza, and I am a student pursuing my Master's thesis at the Max-Planck-Institute for Informatics. I am writing to cordially invite you to participate in an asynchronous online focus group study as part of our research project titled “Routing Realities: Assessing the practicality of academic BGP security solutions in network operations”. Study Overview: This study, conducted by our research team, including myself, Mannat Kaur, and Tobias Fiebig, aims to explore the practicality of academic solutions, with a particular focus on BGP security. Your insights as a network operator will be invaluable in helping us understand the challenges and identify opportunities for improvement. Focus Group Details: Start Date: Around 3rd week of September Platform: Mattermost Total Runtime: 4 - (max) 6 weeks Total Questions: 6 Format: 1 week(maximum)/question Your Participation: As a participant, you will be asked to share your experiences, challenges, perspectives on the practical implementation of BGP security solutions proposed by academic research in real-world network environments, and engage in online group discussions with other network operators. The focus group discussions are asynchronous, and we encourage you to contribute your insights at a pace that suits your schedule. You can engage in the discussions all at once or spread your contributions across multiple days, depending on what is most convenient for you. WG Chair selection

Dear cooperation WG members In line with our regular process, we refresh the co-chair selections every three years, as terms come to an end. Achilleas and Julf are both willing to continue as co-chairs, but they are also happy to step down, if the group feels that it is time for more new blood and there are interested volunteers. We therefore invite both possible expressions of support for current co-chairs continuing as well as any interested volunteers to express their interest in serving as co-chairs for the cooperation working group. The Cooperation WG chair selection process, see < https://www.ripe.net/participate/ripe/wg/active-wg/coop/cooperation-wg-chai… >, states that interested parties have two weeks to make their interest known via the mailing list or directly to the Chair/s. Based on that, we suggest a deadline for expressions of interest by October 10th, and then discussion on the mailing list until October 23rd.
