Dear Connect-WG members,
Through this e-mail we would like to announce that the WG Chairs are now open to receive proposals for our session during the RIPE 90 meeting in Lisbon. We ask the members of the Working Group and RIPE NCC employees for presentation ideas that meet the concepts of IXPs, Interconnections and their surrounding eco-systems.
RIPE 90 will be held in Lisbon, Portugal from 12-16 May 2025 (https://ripe90.ripe.net/) and the Connect-WG is scheduled on Thursday (15th of May) at 9:00 - 10:30 GMT
When you submit a proposal, please also include slides for the chairs to review. If you've presented similar material elsewhere, please share with us when and where the material was presented to help us review the proposal correctly. Submissions can be sent to connect-wg-chairs(a)ripe.net
You can find the meeting notes of the last Connect-WG session at the following URL: https://www.ripe.net/community/wg/active-wg/connect/minutes/connect-working…
Thank you in advance and looking forward for your submissions.
Kind regards,
Paul, Will, Stavros (Connect-WG chairs)
Dear Connect WG members,
As a member of the Euro-IX Forum Program Committee (FPC), and with the OK of the WG chairs, I’m sharing the CfP for the upcoming 42nd Euro-IX Forum here, too.
At Euro-IX we think that many participants in this WG have topics in common with the European IXP community. If you are already working on a relevant presentation for the upcoming RIPE meeting, why not propose it to Euro-IX, too?
You will find the list of topic areas below. And if your topic is not exactly spot-on, you can still propose, or contact me to discuss. For example, if you have practical experience to share on using BGP Roles, we want to hear from you!
Thanks and cheers
Mich
_______________
The Euro-IX Forum Programme Committee (FPC) is seeking presentation proposals for the 42nd Euro-IX Forum <https://www.euro-ix.net/en/events/fora/42ndeuro-ix-forum/>, which will take place from 1-3 June 2025 in Antwerp, Belgium.
We encourage proposals from the whole community. Anyone can propose a topic and - if accepted - present it at the meeting. There is no requirement to be related to or working for an IXP or a Patron organisation.
There are three possible types of submissions: Plenary Talks, Lightning Talks and Panels.
Submission process
You will need to create an account on the Euro-IX website to submit. Your details will only be used in connection with your proposal, and will not be used for marketing or other purposes.
Please include slides - even if just a draft - with your submission. Submissions without slides have a much lower chance of being accepted.
Submit a draft presentation to the FPC via the submission tool:
https://www.euro-ix.net/en/events/fora/42nd-euro-ix-forum/proposals/ <https://www.euro-ix.net/en/events/fora/42ndeuro-ix-forum/proposals/>
Our presentation guidelines explain the submission and review process, along with some presentation tips:
https://www.euro-ix.net/en/events/presentation-guidelines/
Please note the deadlines below - it takes time to review proposals, we will accept talks as they come in. If you wait until the last deadline, there may be no slots available in the appropriate session.
Plenary Talks
These should be 20-30 minutes on topics including:
IXP Commercial & Marketing
General IXP Operations
Next Generation IXP Concepts (e.g. for cloud and 5G)
Regulatory Challenges
Technical Operations
Tools & Automation
Customer Views - network operators’ experiences of IXPs and peering
Submissions on these current topics are particularly welcome:
Security - incidents, abuse and compliance
Data Centres and IXP co-operation
Panel Discussions
These are usually 30 - 60 minutes, and can discuss the same range of topics as plenary talks.
Panels are usually composed of 3-4 industry representatives, plus a moderator to guide the discussion. Panel organisers should aim for diverse perspectives.
Lightning Talks
Lightning talks are intended to be shorter or less-formal presentations or updates and should be 5 - 10 minutes on a current subject. They can be submitted in advance or during the forum.
NOTE: Lightning talk slots are subject to agenda constraints. Lightning talks are occasionally moved or cancelled at short notice, or there may not be time for questions. We have limited time to review Lightning Talks and may not accept any lightning talk considered unsuitable. (Too long or inappropriate, sales pitches, marketing disguised as technical content etc.)
Not sure if your idea is suitable?
Please submit it anyway and we will be happy to work with you to turn it into a presentation suitable for our community.
