Ever-increasing traffic volumes create pressure for denser and more
diverse peering that challenges the traditional IXP model. A fundamental
shift in peering practices is Remote Peering (RP). The authors developed
and tested a methodology based on RIPE Atlas to accurately identify RP,
aiming to enable a more transparent peering ecosystem.:
