PDP Number: 2008-07 Ensuring efficient use of historical IPv4 resources Dear Colleagues, The text of the policy proposal 2008-07 has been revised based on the community feedback received on the mailing list. We have published the new version (version 2) today. As a result a new Discussion Phase is set for the proposal. You can find the full proposal at: http://www.ripe.net/ripe/policies/proposals/2008-07.html We encourage you to review this policy proposal and send your comments to address-policy-wg@ripe.net before 1 July 2009. Regards, Ingrid Wijte Policy Development Officer RIPE NCC
I support this proposal as it is. The obvious loophole would be that historical space would be moved to a non-LIR entity but there's no way to avoid that. Best, Remco On 03-06-09 11:40, "Ingrid Wijte" <ingrid@ripe.net> wrote:

Hi, I propse to change "... documentation of all address resources they hold..." to "... documentation for all Assignments they made..." because otherwise it is not clear what 'documentation' is. At the same time, what is 'Documentation for Assignments' is clear from the current policy document (see 6.1). Documentation is forms for their infrastructure and their cutomers requests, it says. Second. To understand what 'pre-RIR registrations' means, one should aware when 'RIR registrations' started. Which is difficult. I propose remove '(this includes pre-RIR registrations).' from the text because this may confuse people. The definition of 'Historical resources' is much better, but i'd changed '...before the existence of the RIPE NCC' to '...before the RIPE NCC was established in 1998' Some my LIR's allocations have been recieved in 1995-1998. RIPE NCC did not exist as legal entity it exists now, but still it was an organisation which have allocated those blocks. Does it mean that we have Historical resources? Thank you.
