Dear Accountability Task Force,
I am sure you have been following the recent discussions on the ripe-list regarding the TF work. Some of it are extensions from the correspondence happened before and during the last RIPE meeting.
After some deep consideration I have decided to step down from the Task Force, both as a chair and a member. This was not a light decision I took. I would like to explain my main reasons to you, as you deserve to know, having spent time and energy on this matter so far with me, before I send an announcement to the RIPE list:
a) The tone of the recent conversations made me question whether there is enough willingness, interest and/or trust from the larger part of the community towards the Task Force to perform within its scope at all. After 6 months from its inception a Task Force should not be questioned about its scope in principle if that scope is able to speak to a community it serves to.
b) Even if there is enough interest from the community, the current tone of the discussions are rather disruptive and take away from the time and energy that I can devote to the task for the actual work. I keep finding myself needing to respond to some, in my opinion, irrelevant commentary on the list, rather than being able to focus on the actual TF work. You may remember when I accepted to Co-Chair the TF I already made everyone aware that I was very much time challenged with my newly assumed position in my day job. At this point I am afraid I do not see how I can contribute under the current circumstances.
I still am very glad I took part in the Task Force so far and got to know you better all, even if limited. I care about the topics that the Task Force highlighted so far and I will do my best to contribute to the discussions that the TF work will generate once it is published. In fact I am looking forward to that.
I wish you the best and hope to connect soon again.
